Today marks the 26th wedding anniversary for the parents. They dated for six years before marriage so technically they’ve been together for 32 years now. How do you stay together for that long?! Hahah.

My parents are not like any other couples out there. Sure they fight and make up, they have their differences every now and then. But I’d like to think my parents are rather, special. At least to me :)

I talk to mum about almost anything. From girl dramas to boy problems to well, every other stuff. She’s the one person I know who will not judge me no matter what I say. She understands how I feel and what I go through (most of the time hahah) and she’s always there for me. She’s the one person I know I can count on no matter what the situation is, or how bad it becomes.

She’s the type of mum whom I can listen to Sexy Bitch with in the car, she’s the type of mum whom I complain to when I don’t know what to wear and she’d help to pick an outfit for me, she’s basically the type of mum a lot of people out there has and also much more than that.

Dad on the other hand, is a man of few words (at least to me). He was very strict when I was little, I had a lot of restrictions and rules to obey growing up if you compare with many of my friends and other people out there. He’s very protective, or maybe doting is the right word. He taught me many things which you don’t learn in school or anywhere else.

A lot of people think that he’s stern and unfriendly but the truth is, he’s the friendliest person you can ever meet, and he always puts the interests of others before his. He’s always there to help, and he’s a man with a broad range of knowledge. He always wants what’s best for me, he may not be always right but I know he always means well.

I’d like to think that my parents did an amazing job in bringing my brother and I up. When I was little, I used to think that they were always there to make my life miserable. But as I grew up, I realised what they are really trying to do, all the hidden good intentions behind their actions. Well it’s either that or they’ve turned into some super cool parents who no longer wanna make my life miserable HAHAHAH, just kidding, you know I love you mummy and daddy.

Both of them try their very best to provide us with what we need and want, they give us more than what we need in order for us to live a comfortable life. I remember how dad never wanted me to work fearing I might be too young to endure the hard work. I remember how mum always tells me that I have to study hard so that I will be well respected in future, so that I will not have to depend on anyone but myself to live a good life.

They still care for us like we’re babies who need attention and nurturing 24/7. Of course there are times we all don’t see eye to eye but all those are only little things if you compare them to the love and bond we all share. At the end of the day, family is the most important thing you can ever have in life. They are the ones who stick with you through thick and thin, through rain and storm.

They have so much expectations for my brother and I, they want to see us become successful and great people but would never pressure us into getting outstanding results in whatever we do, they’re contented with what we’re capable of achieving and if we do an excellent job at something, they consider it a plus. I know my brother and I are all grown up now, but I also know they will still want to protect us under their wings for as long as possible. And sometimes, I let them. I know how much it means to them to know that their babies still need their guidance once in a while.

I’d never wish for anyone else to take the places of my parents and I’m grateful for being blessed with such great ones :) You know I love you both, although I may be a pain in the ass at times heheh.

I’m going to the salon with mum probably in Dec, after my finals to colour my hair and maybe get a haircut. For the new year 2010 hahah. So I was thinking if I should get bangs, been pondering over it for quite some time now. I did the Rihanna/V.Beckham hair look last year and everyone said it really suits me. But the next thing I know every other person I see on the street has more or less the same hairstyle.

Now that my hair is finally longer (I’m using scrunchies again!!), I thought of keeping it long again but with bangs this time. Mr R said he would ask Suresh to Photoshop me with bangs so that I can have an idea of how I’m gonna look, so we’ll see when it’s done :) One of my cousins told me that it’s pretty exciting at first, then after a month or so it just gets annoying because you gotta keep trimming and the growing process is gonna be a pain of course.

The last time I had bangs was when I was six HAHAH! Okay enough about the bangs, about the hair colour, I think I’m gonna go for violet-red this time, been thinking of trying that colour for quite a while as well. Maybe I should Photoshop that first too, hahahah.

I’ve been watching movies like a machine these days!

My Sister’s Keeper.

Very touching and inspirational. Although Cameron Diaz’s role can be very annoying in this movie. Director of The Notebook man, I remember how it made me tear but I can’t really remember what happened, watched it a long time ago.

I Do..I Did.

Wasn’t that funny, wasn’t that interesting. Wasn’t that bad either. That guy has a really hot body btw :)

New Moon hahah, watched it on the first day but I’m not really a fan of Twilight and Edward Cullen and all that.

Now I know there are many fans out there so don’t hate me lah okay, I just don’t really see what all the craze is about. However I must admit, Jacob’s body is smoking hot! And his new hair cut makes him look so much better. Bella well, she can be pretty annoying sometimes. The reason why I am and I will be watching them is because I don’t read the books, and I wanna find out what happens, out of curiosity.

One thing I don’t get, why read the books then watch the movie? It kills the fun. The only book&movie I’ve done is Confessions of a Shopaholic hahahah.

Anyways, I signed up with Fitness First today! It was very spontaneous but nonetheless I’m gonna make the most out of it, plus it’s a healthy lifestyle right? Was at TGIF, I practically had cheese for lunch. Melted cheese is da bomb. Badminton today was fun, badminton every Thursday is always fun :D

I’m just killing time waiting for dad to finish watching his show so that I could watch mine. I could’ve just watched my tv series but someone is still having my hard drive pfft. HINT HINT.

Do you think dad would be mad at me if I told him I won’t be having dinner with ze family this weekend? I usually spend at least Sundays with them but I’ve got plans for this weekend! Well I’m spending tomorrow with them, is that oookkaaaayyyyy? :)

Okay lah bye.

Currently listening to: Trouble is A Friend by Lenka.

I have decided. I have made up my mind. I made myself a promise I’m not gonna break this time.

I shall stop shopping online. For real.

Online shopping is for the weak!! Hahah, just kidding. But I’ve done some thinking and I think it’s best I leave this habit behind. Better to spend more on something which has better quality than on many many cheap (price wise) items.

Anyways, I was at HTO, Subang on Sunday to watch the boys (U R My Bro) play in this tournament called Smells like Teen Spirit or something like that. Champions yo, don’t mess. I’m so proud to be one of the bros, heheh I even have the team T-shirt but Mr R stole it from me because his wasn’t dry yet pfft (mine is men’s size M btw).

Kudos to every member of the team because all of them played so well, top notch performance. Especially Brad who was superb even with a finger injury (he’s the keeper). I had fun :D Keep up the good job!

Since the last time I went with them for a tournament I was starving while waiting for them to finish, I prepared myself with two roti canais for breakfast and equipped myself with tidbits hahah. But I was still hungry at the end of the tournament lah.

OOH did I mention I got a free pass to the gym for TWO MONTHS? Celebrity Fitness I think. Heheh, they won like 800bucks and 8 free passes and since they had only 6 players that day, I got one :D Thank you so much!

Finally, all assignments done and handed in. I’d like to just say thanks to all my teammates, in every subject. I had very efficient members and I’m glad we did not experience any rough patches at all throughout the process of completing our work :) The reason why I call them my teammates is because a team works together, a group is only a group of people. Learned that in HR class or something, heheh.

Time to buck up for Taxation now! Please please please let me go through this successfully, hahah. Dayan thinks it’s the easiest paper ever, pfft. But he’s doing ACCA so I guess there are far more difficult subjects if you compare them to Tax. Thanks a bunch to him as well because he practically pointed out everything for us to complete our assignment heheh :)

Gee this is like a thanking post or something hahah.

I believe that everything happens for a reason.
People change so that you can learn to let go.

Things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right.
You believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself,
and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.
Marilyn Monroe

They say life is like a rollercoaster.
Good thing is I love rollercoasters.

Here’s another movie review!

A Christmas Carol.

Not really my type of movie, didn’t really enjoy it. Nonetheless, the values the movie indicates are without doubt vital. When you learn to love and give, that’s when you learn to truly live.

Accident.

Very interesting movie. A group of people whose job is to commit murder but they make it in the form of an accident. But I thought the ending wasn’t very suitable. It’s like when you watch it, you’ll go, “whattt..” hahah.

Overheard.

Basically about the police force trying to curb corruption and can’t help but have corruption among themselves as well. I enjoyed this movie.

Oh and I think Louis Koo is damn macho I wanna marry him.

Poker King.

It wasn’t as funny as how some people claimed it is. I’d say it was just another ordinary movie, doesn’t really fall under the comedy category, but not a complete waste of money either.

Time Traveler’s Wife.

I think I went into the theatre with high expectations, the trailer was promising but unfortunately the entire movie was nothing very special to me. Or maybe my romantic side is fading away?

500 Days of Summer.

My favourite of the lot, as well as compared to most of the movies I’ve watched this year. Not your cliche love story, no predictable happy ending. But I loved it.

And I love all the songs played in this movie. Definitely a movie not to miss :)

Chances are we gonna unearth ourselves all over again
Giving us the fascination of discovering
Chances are we could make the best out of it
After all things are what we make them

So let’s make all the right moves here
Let’s give the wrong places the right destination
Because i think we’re special
I think we can be vivid

I know we gonna have it good
I know it’s all gonna look so fine
Because we gonna make it
Way before anybody knows where we’re going

The sun shining so bright everyday
Makes hope and faith look so swaying
It doesn’t matter what they see
Because i can see it right here

This rapport between us
Is impossible to go unnoticed
So hold my hand and hold it tight
And don’t ever let go.

I wrote this a long time ago, never got to posting it. You can tell, since the sun hasn’t been shining brightly for a long time now, hahah.

But don’t you just love the weather these days?

Currently listening to: Don’t Look Back in Anger by Oasis.

Huge relief off my chest, only one assignment left. A little tricky this one, but I think we’ll manage :) And then it’s finals, woohoo.

For Moral, I did a piece based on an article about Nadya Suleman. She is the woman who gave birth to octuplets, even though she already has six children all below the age of seven. Now that’s a very controversial issue don’t you think? I thought it would make a great article, because we’re supposed to choose two articles to write on and relate them to moral theories we learn in class.

So of course there’s always two sides in a story, those who are pro-choice would say it is entirely her right to choose what she wants for life, based on Moral it is called the Existentialism theory heheh. So yea, there are also others who think that it was a very selfish act because she is a single parent who is living with her parents, and she now has 14 young children to look after. She’s unemployed and not financially independent, you can say she’s struggling to make ends meet.

That is why they say she is putting the lives of her children in jeopardy, she’s going to need a lot of financial support to bring them up, for their education, as well as other needs. Some put the blame on her doctor who implanted several embryos in her, which is far more than the national guidelines.

So what is your stand? I personally think she is an adult who is fully capable of making her own choices. Whether right or wrong, it is to be decided by her. Sure, people will always have their opinions and comments but it all comes down to her rights. We can all judge, but no one can tell her what to do wouldn’t you say so?

Another article was chosen by my groupmate Leonard, on abortion. Again, pro-choice. I don’t think it should be seen as a form of killing if the circumstances can be justified. If it endangers the mother’s life, or if the mother is not going to be capable of bringing the child up (whether mentally/financially), it seems like a pretty good decision to me.

Basically, I think that in whatever situation a person faces, the choice should always be given to that particular individual. I know abortion is illegal in many countries including ours and there are many religious beliefs and customs that are against issues like these, but we at least deserve the right to make a decision we think is best for ourselves, no?

Anyways there was a warehouse sale at Cineleisure! Adidas items mostly, dirt cheap! Had lunch at Paddington House of Pancakes, nothing special lah. I think it would be best to go there only for desserts.

I finally had the time to watch an episode of Fringe, SO COOL!! Can’t wait to watch every single one of them, very interesting.

I should probably get some sleep now, gotta wake up at 7am. But don’t know why I’m still feeling all pumped up hahahah.

No we’re not perfect, but we’re only a little lesser than that.

Verrryy long post ahead!

Google

OPI’s latest collection, Suede.

I still prefer matte but these are pretty tempting as well.

Sudden appeal for nail colours like nobody’s business, hahah tell me about it.

xxxxxxx

Had lunch at this newly-opened (only a month old) restaurant that serves American food today, located at Damansara.

The owners (husband&wife) are very friendly and I particularly love their wall frames.

So pretty right?

And the ones below are just too cute I had to take a picture of them! The many photos of pigs, oink oink.

Also, their tables are named according to the many states in America, how creative! We had lunch at Michigan today! :D Hahahah.

But they only have 13 tables and during dinner time, the queue is madness. I guess there is no need for me to say that they serve good food :) Will definitely go back to try more of their dishes.

I’ve been catching up on local and world news, and I found some of them rather amusing.

There’s apparently this British lady who suffers from Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome, where she craves for sex and can climax anytime, as the disease name suggests. I don’t know bout you, but I really feel sorry for her. Imagine how you can’t live life like a normal person, there was even once she had an orgasm in front of a very persistent salesman who didn’t want to let her excuse herself (she knew it was coming), very embarrassing I must say. (Information taken from Malaysiatoday.com)

Well she did finally find a man whom she claims can keep up with her (up to 10times a day), after many many failed relationships due to her very demanding sex drive. I wish her all the best!

And then there’s this woman in India who filed for divorce because her husband forbids her from watching soap operas. And the best part is, the judge granted her a divorce because “it can be considered as a form of abuse”. Her husband also refuses to have sex with her, intimidates her as well as spat on her, so I guess those are pretty valid reasons for a divorce. (Information taken from The Star today)

Next up is this man who allegedly killed his wife in his dreams. Psychiatrists say that he has a sleeping disorder and he did so thinking he was fighting off intruders who wanted to harm both himself and his wife. This is very interesting I must say, the case is still ongoing. (Metro.co.uk)

But I saved the best for the last, our very own local news. I read something so ludicrous that it made me feel like I should be ashamed to call myself a Malaysian. Our Deputy Minister of Education stated that “conversing in English at workplace is harmful to the nation’s culture and identity” and “we should switch to BM to show pride in the national language“. He also claimed that speaking in English will pollute our culture and identity. (Patrick Teoh, Niamah.blogspot.com)

English is a worldwide language, a lingua franca. There are many ways to show pride and respect for our country, it certainly does not require the people to go backwards. It is like asking mankind to go back to living in caves.

Hope those news amused you as much as they amused me :)

Do one thing that scares you every day.
